Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
You can have as many team members on your membership as you want. If you would like to add or remove anyone, please email our client services team at clientservices@jbrec.com.
All members of NHTI that are on our distribution list will receive a direct link via email to register for all virtual events.
All previous research and reports, events, and webinar recordings published by NHTI are archived on our blog.
Thought Leader NHTI members have the ability to submit questions and topics for consideration to the NHTI team. Questions can be incorporated into surveys if approved and relevant to the topics being researched. If you would like consumer or design research specifically curated for your company, please contact Maureen Ladley at mladley@jbrec.com for more details about a custom consulting project.
Professionals and industry leaders with 10+ years of experience who work at an NHTI member company have the opportunity to apply to join a council. Council members are selected each year to create well-balanced councils and acceptance is not guaranteed.
The New Home Trends Summit is an annual conference that includes a mix of keynote speakers, panels, and roundtables. The conference also includes an optional half-day tour of a prominent master-planned community. An invite to the summit is included in your New Home Trends Institute membership, but there is an extra fee to attend (unless you are a Thought Leader member, which includes one ticket per year). Each year we select a new location around the U.S. for the New Home Trends Summit.

Each edition includes six projects: residential for-sale collections (a mix of attached and detached offerings), a residential rental project (build-to-rent or apartment), a master-planned community, and a historic community. Each edition has a mix of product form attached townhomes or stacked flats to detached collections with offerings for first-time buyers, move-up, and move-down. Some editions will also include age-qualified master plans or collections. Some editions switch it up to include something different—perhaps a concept home, unique building technique, or special feature (where we curate our favorite images around a topic or trend).
Project recommendations come from a variety of sources, from in-house to outside the company. In-house sources include the NHTI team’s own scouting, as well as recommendations from local JBREC market experts. External sources include most of the major building industry awards, as well as recommendations from architects, builders, developers, and designers from around the country. All recommendations are reviewed and the most DesignLens-worthy are photographed and published (with the permission of the builder or developer).
We do not track lot widths, only average lot sizes in square feet. You can either search by the square footage you are looking for or try searching by home width. With an assumed 5-foot setback on each side, a 50-foot lot would have a 40-foot home on it, so you could search 40-foot-wide floor plans to find what you are looking for. Search floor plans under the floor plan tab on the project search page.
We love recommendations. Please contact Jenni Nichols at jnichols@jbrec.com with any suggestions.
Yes, you can save projects while logged into the website. However, there is no way to share them with other website users within the site. You can save the images you like and download them to share.
